wheel fitment question

I have an '06 R500 and am looking at a set of amg aero II two piece wheels in 18 x 8.5 to replace the stock 18's. the only problem is that the amg's have an ET44 and as we all know the stock ET on a W251 8.5" wheel is anywhere from 58 to 61mm. that being said, does anyone know for a fact whether or not an ET44 will work w/o either clearance issues or the wheel sticking out too far? i have full airmatic and the car is not lowered [i live in the NE and it is out of the question...] TIA

Plus, the R-class specific 18s are only 8.0 wide, and that affects total offset measurement as well.

i realize that and the ET for the 8" wheels is invariably 60mm or more...

I run 22x9 et 35 in front with a 265 tire and have only noticed a little rubbing on the inner fender when turning on a steep slope but my car is lowered. On the back I run a 22x10.5 et 35 with a 295 tire and have had absolutly no rubbing ever. I think you will be fine using an offset in the 40s, I feel it will help make the car not seem to sit so tall since the stance will be a little wider.
