Rear safety lock

so I have a 3 year old that likes to try and open the door. On my infiniti there is a very simple switch to allow you to activate the Child Safety lock meaning he cannot open the door. I am having a hard time finding anything in the manual on this. Anyone have insight if the car has this and if so how you activate it.

Thanks - this is for 07 R Class

Given MBs focus on locking the passengers inside automatically when vehicle is in motion - this isn't usually a problem, until you open your driver's door and the locks release.

2006-2008 = no child locks
2009-2010 = child locks

As the previous poster mentioned, all models regardless of model year have the drive away locks feature activated through the computer/steering wheel buttons. It automatically locks all doors when speeds over 5 or 10 mph, making the door handles for the rear doors inoperable until one of the front doors are opened. You can however pull up on the lock pin and unlock the door, but its doubtful a child restrained by either a car seat or a seat belt would be able to reach their location. Even if they did, they are quite hard to pull up on even for adults. For the 2009 and up models, they added true child locks activated by the normal switch on the inside of the rear doors.

Wanted to make a correction. The door lock pins are towards the rear of the doors, not the front of the doors. Not sure where my head was at lol (they are located in the front of the rear doors in the C my other car), so a child in a seat belt may very well be able to reach the door lock pin, but as I stated, it's doubtful they would actually be able to pull it up. A child in a child seat still shouldn't be able to gain access to the door lock pin at all due to the child seat bolsters obstructing side movement.

Unhappy

I hate to tell you but my 2 1/2 year old grandson easily, the first time in the car, can from his properly installed car seat unlock and open the rear door. So I do think a specific lock out of the manual lock is required. I have a 2006 E320 CDI.

The door pins in the 06 E class are different than those in the current cars or the R class for that matter. To that point, if you go over to the new E class or C class thread you will see that the door pins are so hard to pull up when locked that people are breaking them off in their hands lol. That said, never underestimate what a child can or can't do because you will end up with egg on your face nearly every time.

buy different pins that don't have the flared top, and put them in. And if he can still unlock it, twist it all the way into the door so you can't even pull on them. Now you're forced to use the automatic lock unlock...

They look better anyways.
