Oil sensor problem?

Driving from NC to FL, got a message to check oil at next fuel stop on the dash.

Pulled over and checked...all looked ok. Drove a few more miles, and it came on again. Called dealer, and he said it must be low, add a quart.

went and bought a quart, let the car sit, level, for 20 minutes, checked, and it still showed full. Added 1/2 qt. anyway.

A few hours later, and warning goes off again. Pulled over and checked, level still good.

Arrived in Fl, let car sit overnight, checked again...still shows full on the dipstick.

Drove car tuesday, same warning. Drove car yesterday, no warning, all ok...driving back to NC tomorrow....worried about it....

any ideas????

The dealer should know better. It is a known issue with the sensor which should be fixed under warranty. I would not have added any oil if it was showing full. You probably need the dealer to drain some of the oil when you take it in to fix the sensor.

My 2008 R320 had the same issue.

Brought it up to my dealer & they apologized many times for letting the car out the door with this issue.

It's a quick software update/change to fix that. The dealer did it and it's never been an issue since.

Thanks! I will discuss this with the dealer, and see what they say!
