Carfax on used R500
Thinking of buying an 06 R500. I've heard the problems these cars can come with. Here is a carfax of one that I'm considering:

Any thoughts?

Well what I'm concerned about is on the carfax it states that the power steering pump was replaced, and the fuel system was serviced, whatever that means. Also the headlight and tail lights were replaced.

The tail lights have always been a problem. Those were listed in a TSB. I wouldn't worry about something that has been replaced, and with a extented warranty you don't have to. I bought a 06 R350 with 38,000 and MB sold me the Bumper to Bumper 5 year or 50,000 meaning a actual reading of 88,000 on mine for $4,250.

I find the records reasonable. Take it for a spin and pay attention how it shifts. These had a problem with abrupt shifting that was since fixed by trans valve body replacement. I didn't see any record here so I assume this car did not experience that problem. Also shop around to have a perspective.

carfax history is helpful, but they really don't guarantee ANYTHING - read the fine prints.
the best thing i've found is going to MB dealer and getting a VMI(svc history)...that'll likely tell you much more than carfax. the R500 is AWESOME car, but 2006 is first year and you definitely want to make sure you get warranty, esp if you have the airmatics. Good luck.

Ditto Patrick's post. A red flag on a carfax means to move on, but no red flags may or may not mean anything.
For example, do you know if the car's paint and body panels are original? If the dealer has a paint meter, they can show you the readings. THEN you know it's never been in an accident, and not only that, but that someone did not scrape it down the side of their garage door and repaint one side of the car.
An extended warranty is not a bad idea at all on a 2006 R500 with those miless. You can see the previous owner got one, and they used it.
Dealer auction price for a car like that, with those miles, if nice and clean, is $20K to $21K plus fees. So $24.7K is not a terribly high price at a dealer. If I bought that car for someone at auction, I would pre-purchase inspect it for paint/bodywork, and deliver it with full MB dealer checkout for around $23.5K.

Is there any way to tell from a picture that the car would have airmatic suspension? Is there a button I would be looking for? A lot of these used car dealers don't list it as a feature probably because they don't know its there. And also if it has the AMG package, do the rims pretty much give that away, is there something else that would obviously depict the AMG package.

ck the interior middle console for the "sport" or "comfort" setting to see if it's airmatic. also, there's really no AMG package other than wheels and slight cosmetics, i think.

I have Airmatic's and do not have a "sport" or "comfor"t button. To check open the hood on the driver's side you we see a air compressor, also if you open the rear access doors for the tail lights you will see a clear plastic airline which goes to the air shocks.
