R350 rear glass shattered - surprising... no alarm

Hi folks -
Our '06 R350 was vandalized earlier. The rear glass was broken into and part of the hatch was also damaged.
I was puzzled as to why the security alarm did not go off.

Any ideas -> if system is not working, or there are no sensors on the glass and back. Is there a way to add additional security?

Feedback appreciated.

I think only the doors and the hatch are fixed with an alarm for opening.

I think there is also a motion sensor, but not sensitive enough for glass breakage. More intended for tow-aways.

Well, yeah, there is a vehicle motion detector. I meant there is no fancy radar or infrared detector of internal motion like in a store or bank. Just an alarm which goes off in a serious bump.

My rear hatch glass was broken into also. I wasn't sure if alarm went off or not. If it did, maybe it stopped already when I went to my car. I don't belive the alarm is continuous??? or is it?

The additional security is not to put anything that people can see through the rear hatch. On that day, I went to airport to pick up someone and leave the 3rd row down and cargo cover off. Big Mistake. Since then, i have cargo cover on all the time.

My hatch wasn't damaged, but needed repaint due to paint chips from glasses. Find a good repair shop to get all the little glasses out!!!
