Rattle from front center console

Rattle from front center console
In the last week our car has developed a nice annoying rattle from the center console. I am guessing somehting might have fallen between the ashtray (coin holder) and the other compartment closest to the Comand unit. Anyways, is there any way to pull out the ashtray, or do I have to pull out the whole console?
I found instructions on a DVD thread on how to pull the whole thing, but if someone knows a way to just pull out the ashtray that would be great - not just the insert of the ashtray but the whole part of the center console for the ashtray.
