R500 engine swap to R63?? Thoughts??...
Hello everyone... I have experience in swapping motors our in other cars and thought this would serve as a nice swap. I have found a good about of R63 motors online and wondered if anyone else on the forum had this swap preformed?
If not, are there other products available for the stock R500 motor like a supercharger, etc to step up the horsepower?? 500+ naturally aspirated hp sounds pretty nice and the wiring harness should cross with the stock R500??

So, 9 years later....
This thread is old as the hills but, did you ever attempt the R500- R63 conversion? If so, how did it go? I find these motors all the time and would like to follow this path for the hell of it.

Sounds like a silly thread to me. There are a lot more in the AMG cars than just the engine. Suspension, sway bars, springs, brake discs & brake pads, etc etc. Just merely replacing the engine is throwing off your well balanced R500 much like installing Nitro onto a Smart fortwo. Then again, your life is yours

The M156 63 engine is different enough from the M113 500 engine that you would probably need the R63 specific ECM, which I imagine would be hard to come by. A far simpler conversion would be swapping in the M113 55 AMG engine, which is essentially a stroked M113 500 engine. That swap has been documented in other cars.
