R350 Fuel Pump

Have a 2006 R350 with a dead fuel pump!

The Dealer quotes 1140.00 for a replacement. Is that possibly correct? and Do I have any bway to confirm that is the correct "range for the repair" ? $&%%^X??

I see part number as A 000 470 78 94 in star EPC.

Has anyone tried this repair with a full tank of fuel (not sure of the issues here, is fuel pump in tank)

I am trying to understand what is involved to do this repair.... dealer or self?

MSRP for 000 470 78 94 is $338.

See https://www.getmercedesparts.com/oem...des-parts.html

Who cares what "anyone has tried?" Replace pump according to Mercedes WIS procedures.

Either get the service DVD or subscribe for 24 hrs for $18 and download the procedure. Either method is not going to add $1K to your costs.

The document you need is AR47.20-P-7000GZ, Remove/install fuel pump and fuel pump sensor." This document references others.

It indeed calls for pumping out fuel and lists a special tool required for removing pump. Some body work is also required. A requirement is connection of STAR DIAGNOSIS system.

I'd find a Mercedes-trained and equipped independent to do this job for me. Nothing less.
