Ugh....... a/c is out. DIYable?
A/C quit working just in time for the warm weather in Texas. Looks like the compressor/clutch as the clutch is engaged all the time instead of just when the a/c is turned on and system line had pressure. Had a leaky steering pump a few months back and wondering if being drenched in pump oil lead to a failure? hmmm
Anyways, fairly mechanically inclined and don't have $2k laying around for a shop to do it, so thinking of replacing it myself. Lots of experience on cars but have never touched an a/c system. Was planning on just having a shop pull the freon, replace the compressor and then have a shop refill. Anybody with any experience with this?
