battery visit workshop display after battery change

2006 MBZ R500, since original battery is 6 years old, I replaced it with AGM battery under the passenger seat. Everything seems o.k. but the display after I started the car shows a battery icon and to visit workshop. Does anyone know if I had to do some kind of resetting on the vehicle or do I have to bring it to the dealer to reset it. Thank you.

I remember that when I owned a BMW it was widely assumed on the boards that some change had to be made to the car's onboard computer to inform it that a new battery had been installed.Failure to do this was said to cause various problems, including CEL warnings.Don't know if this applied to Mercedes, however.

I forget what this was used for, but one trick is to turn on the headlights for two minutes (engine is NOT running), then turn the lights off and start the car. Hopefully this will help.
