transmission service

I am a couple of days from having my indy do the transmission fluid change on my R. Does anyone have info on the recomended transmission pan redesign. What problem were they trying to fix and is it really needed

Their is a mercedes tech bulletin that says the first time you change the fluid you should replace the pan with a new redesigned one. My 06 R has 40000 miles and is the frist change. I am trying to get an idea if people have done this or not. If you did the fluid change did you replace the pan. Trying to determind if the extra expense is needed. My indy did not know why they changed the pan and he is researching also!

I took mine to the dealer. I had a $50 off coupon for any service. Even with out the coupon I would take it to the dealer. They do it right with the right filters and fluids.
They drian the Torque converter. I called a local shop to see what they did and they just drop the pan...
