My new 2011 R350

Picking up my new R350 early next week. Very hard find options and well equipped! First mods: lower via SDS, K&N high flow filters.

Options:
P2 Package: Keyless Go, Harmon Kardon, AMG Sport Package w/20" wheels, Rear Climate, Rear Entertainment System, Panoramic roof, Lighting package w/ bi-xenon and active curve illumination and LED daytime running lights, Parktronic, Blind Spot Assist, Full Airmatic Suspension, Heated and Ventilated front seats, Special leather interior.

I think the only options I'm missing are special order Distronic and Multi-contour seats. Would love to have the AMG interior option in the US but those lucky Germans get everything!

Nice. It seems hard to find one of these things loaded. So, congratulations. I like those 5 spoke wheels. My R500 has the 10 spoke wheels from 2007. I like the looks but ugh, when it comes to washing and waxing........lots of tiny nooks and crannies.

Thanks. Yeah those multi-spoke wheels are tough to maintain. Porterfield brake pads usually do the job for me. I can go about a month without seeing much dust at all. Very light if any.

Seems well equipped. Does yours have leather and active ventilated front seats? Those were also rare options on the facelifted R Class.

Thanks. Yes, leather, perforated ventilated and heated seats. It's pretty nice. The airmatic is what completes this car for me, it's very rare in the US market.

Fantastic! I don't recall seeing any R Facelift in person with the vented seats.
Does yours have the second row sunshades built into the door panels?

Unfortunately that's one option this one doesn't have. Our current 08 R350 that we are trading in DOES... but its an option that we don't mind missing out on for everything we are getting with the 2011.

I'm sure it's something we can add-on if we really miss it. Sure Steve "MBenzNL" can order anything I need to add-on. I'll post the interior pics once we take delivery this week. Very excited.

This is true- I added it on mine. MB later got rid of the third row shades on later model R Classes- it is unclear which years this option was offered and if it was for the second and third row or just second row. (I know 06 and 07 US spec cars didn't have this available at all).

Just a question, does active curve illumination come with the bi-xenon as part of the package. I just bought my 2011 R and it has bi-xenon, but I'm not sure about ACI. thanks.

According to the brochure, lighting package includes active curve illumination. When you turn the steering wheel, you should see the lights shift towards that direction.

It doesn't appear to, but I'm in Canada, perhaps it was a US option? They do go up and down when the car is started. I'll check it out again. On another note, I'd like to know how the lowering goes. Mine is almost identical to yours, except that I've got multicontour seats but not ventilated, and it's obsidian black. Cheers.

I have the Bi-xenon package on my R500. The headlight steering is subtle. The turn illumination using the fog lights should be readily apparent when the fog light snaps on. Try rolling down an empty stretch of narrow dark road with the low beams on. Crank the wheel back and forth repeatedly (weave like you drank a case of Molson). You should notice the beams sort of lazily tracking slightly behind your steering inputs.

My wife's Infiniti has the same headlight steering option and that system feels like a direct mechanical connection between the steering wheel and beam movement. With the Mercedes system, the connection feels less direct.

Yeah, my S550 has very responsive active curve illumination.

Here's a pic from the US Spec 2011 R-Class with full description.

Wow! Beautiful car. If you ever decide to sell, send me a PM. Currently have a 2008 R350 and have about 94K on it. Thinking about adding a 2011 to the stable in a few years.

Looks great, I noticed alot of differences with the pre- facelift models. park-tronic sensors less noticable, steering, nav... Would like to see it when lowered with sds.

Yes, very interested in the lowering process. Waiting to see what and how yours works out. Will post a couple of pics of mine when I get a nice day. Cheers.

Went to adjust the ride height via SDS at Benz Elite. We were able to get it pretty low but the settings would not accept at this height. Need to get it on the alignment machine and get the alignment tech at the dealer to finish adjusting the height. We were able to get the height a lot lower than stock. about 2.5 inches on the rear and 2 inches on the front. In order to get a even look the rear currently needs to drop another .75" to 1". When I raise the suspension it still raises up at least 3-4 inches.

I'll post new photos once the alignment is complete and I have the final ride height set up.

Low low setting (not accepted by SDS):
