Need a Smart Key
Please help my vehicle is out of commission, because the key will not turn in the ignition. I have a smart key that needs to be replaced. Definitely hoping that's what the problem is. I found the website to order Mercedes parts, but needs a part #/serial. My question is how do I get it the part # for the key?

Only place to get the key is the MB dealership. Don't get it anywhere else, since R-class smart key needs to be programmed by the dealer or it will be totally useless. Call the dealer around you and see who is the cheapest including the programming.

Thanks for the input definitely still on the search for the closest spot to tow my vehicle....smh

W163 - '01 ML320, 155k miles and counting....
It sounds like this might be salvagable. If it is just that the mechanical key part is just somehow broken, but the lock/unlock etc. is working on the remote, then you can get a key on ebay and just move the 'innards' to the new key.

So already had the car towed, and nobody can figure it out. Mean while I'm on the look out trying to save some money, because we just moved into a new home its tight right now. Why can't Mercedes make house calls smh aggrivated.
