2006 Mercedes R350 A/C Compressor problems

I purchase this vehicle a month ago. The auction in which I purchased it from did a post sale inspection stating the A/C compressor was causing a constant winding noise in which changed according to when A/c compressor was engaged. I took it to two different European car shops whom perform diagnostics with the same recommendations that the A/C unit was slowly going out and will only get louder before it fails. I decide to take it to suggested shop of friends and family to get the unit replaced before it fails. They replaced the unit and to my surprise where unable to get the new unit to come on/engage. I was told it points to be my SAM FRONT MODULE and that I should take it to the Mercedes dealership to follow up. Now I have no A/C. Can anyone relate in anyway. Suggestions at this point will be very helpful. Thanks in advance
