intermittent trouble starting/cranking over
hi all,
my 2006 R500 just went off CPO warranty after 7 years and the past few days i've been experiencing w/ intermittent issues trying to get keyless ignition to crank over. just yday, the engine did turn over after 4-5 tries, but now the check engine light is one.
i've done some reading on other models, and many have suggested either crank position sensor or fuel pump. i had similar issues a while ago w/ E320 wagon and it turned out to be MAF replacement.
has anyone here had issues(the battery is only 1-2 yrs old) and the car runs fine. appreciate everyone's input. thx.

If the light is on, it should also be generating a related diagnostic error code.

strange - both the check engine light as well as the starting issues have disappeared. shall i still get it to dealer - they'll likely charge me $160 just to tell me it's ok now?

Did you ever check to see if the car is displaying a diagnostic code? If the dash isn't displaying one, you can have Autozone read it for you. A condition that caused the check light to come on should have registered a code in the ECU.

Just got ck engine light plugged in...it WAS the crank position sensor. $150 part and 2.5 hr labor. All in all - not a bad all things considered.

great ending to a potentially ugly story ... i am having the same issue and i refuse to take it to the dealer - my local mechanic needs a little help locating the CPS but once he got queued in it was a go -
