Trunk Latch Doesn't Release

Rather that hijack another thread, I opted to post a new one since my issue is a little different. My wife's 2006 R500's rear trunk latch doesn't release. It was intermittent, but now flat out refuses. The motor works fine to open and close the door and I can head the buzz go when it tries to unlock the door, but it just remains stuck.

Any ideas how to fix it? Thanks

Have you tried the inside manual release?

Yes, the manual release does work.

It's a $650 repair at the dealership unless you have warranty. I had mine replaced like every other R class owner, it seems.

My wife's 2006 R500 (115K miles) has the same issue. Trunk won't release. I can get it to release manually from inside and it will then raise and when needed lower and lock. Just won't release with power. I can hear it trying to...ugh. I read an earlier thread that intimated it was a battery issue. Car does seem slow to start at times....so which is it?

If your car still has its original battery, you are on borrowed time. I would never leave a battery in my car for more than 4 years.

Pete, battery is not original. Replaced a few years back. I do notice that it seems to be a little slow at starting lately. May take it to my indy guy for a look see. Wife is getting REALLY frustrated with car as of late....one thing after another..
