r350 front differential problem?

This is the closest I found online that our 06 r350 is having. Do you agree it's the front differential problem? Is that a safety concern if we drive it say for another week before having it looked at? How much did that cost you when you had yours fixed? Thanks guys!
The video isn't the same car but the noise is the same.

Front differential noise - YouTube
I cannot tell is your car having differential problem but my dealer did replaced mine about two years ago. We felt the front wheel start making some humming noise with wheels vibration. The technician was able to tell it was the front differential problem by the noise will go quieter when he accelerated and louder when he took his foot off the pedal. I believe the cost was closed to $3K but don't quote me on it.

good luck.

Youtube comments say that it was a rear wheel bearing. Sounds very close to it though. The vehicle in the video is not Mercedes. Looks like one of the domestics.

You have to diagnose with a stethoscope to pinpoint the noise.

You can get the differential rebuilt and almost any mechanic can do it. I did my ML myself (i'm a mechanic). I also wrote a procedure and sourced the bearings.

You can find the procedure here

Check out some of my other posts. If you have any questions, will always be glad to help.

Cheers.

A little more on this subject. I just got this little bit of news and wanted to share with everyone. This article was just brought to my attention:

COUNTERFEIT BEARINGS SEIZED AT TORONTO AIRPORT

as well as this little bit of new here:

http://www.stopfakebearings.com

So as a result, I've pulled my eBay listings containing the cheaper aftermarket bearings. And I will be looking to source these from another manufactuer. I'll let everyone know if and when they become available.

The original Timken and NTN bearings are always available at the link above.

C230 Sport Coup + 2006 W164 ML350 + 99 Ford Escort (What the heck, it gets 38 mpg!)
Just noticed this thread. Had the same problem on my ML as it shares the same
front differential. Bought the bearings on ebay from a US seller for about $300
and paid $500 for labor at a shop that specializes in differential repair.
What a difference!! Now I hear all the other noises that I need to do something about, ha.
Seems I have a bad end link too....will work on that next.
You can get the bearings online here....
