Is it possible to fit Facelift LED tail lights on a R-Class from 2008 ?

And if yes, do I have to make any mods to the existing wires, ore is it just a matter of coding with STAR diagnostics ?

Yeah it doesn't work too well because the facelifted lights are shorter than the previous design so you'll be left with an unsightly gap. Even if you ignore fitment issues, you'll then run into problems with the rear SAM which will probably need to be changed out to a newer one to talk to the new lights. So it's doable, but will require lots of work.

Did you recently get an R-Class Chris? I'd be interested in seeing how it looks on the non FL R.
