Will it demand any mods or is it just plug & play when you have a excisting Comand system ?

I have done that.

In my case I had the prewired phone cradle in the armrest, do you have that? If so it's fairly easy but of course it depends on how used you are to such projects.

I bought a NTG2.5 unit and a conversion kit with all necessary cables (cost a bit more but I knew everything was there). Just hooking up the NTG2.5 and replacing the old unit is easy but you have to remove one signal in one of the connectors (if I recall correctly it was the antenna amplifier power). After that you simply connect the cables from the conversion kit and you can boot your new unit. Also, (again if I recall correctly) you will not get more bands than FM (does anybody use anything else though?).

The more complicated issue is regarding the microphone(s). You have to connect a new cable to the unit which will replace the current microphone cable, that step requires some removing of panels etc.

Hope that sheds some light!
