Headrests - over time all are now broken. WTF!

I have a 2008 R350, mileage is currently at 60K. It was purchased used in 2010 however at the time (mileage at 33K), all headrests in the car were functional.

After about a year of ownership, the middle row headrests (three of them) have come off their mount. Basically, there's some internal mechanism made of plastic that has broken and this has happened to all three. Solution - I took all three headrest off. Not a safe fix, but it works for now.

Recently though, the same issue has plagued the driver and passenger headrests.

No I'm not playing soccer with the headrests, these seems to be breaking from typical use.

Is this something that is happening with anyone else and could this be a safety matter to bring up with NHTSA...not that they couldn't handle yet another recall matter...?

My car has over 100k miles and don't have any problem with the headrest. This is the first time I heard about this problem here.

2008 S63 AMG Headrests Broken

Yeah both my front headrests in my 2008 S63 are broken too. Hanging on there by a piece of fabric. Apparently this happens a decent amount. Ridiculous.

What did you end up doing regarding the 2nd row headrests?

Nothing - the busted headrests in the 2nd row remain off my r350 and I've ziptied the internals of the front two headrests, so they don't move around as much. These headrests are a joke, but and I'll get flak for this for sure, but I never had any of these issues with my german made benzes...

Is there any way to zip tie the middle row?

I can't figure out how to separate the head rest from the frame.
