My center row Arm Rest/Console squeaks: How to silence it??
Dear R-Drivers,
My R500 has a removable center console between the two rear captain seats. It's very nice and my "passengers" love it, but... it squeaks a bit. The materials used a pretty hard plastic, mounted on an interior cast-aluminium frame. You wiggle it around, or drive over a bumpy road, or have a passenger lean on it, and it squeaks.
I had some ideas...
a) Spraying the inside with silicon (I did, and made no difference);
b) Stuffing the inside with old rags to place it all under tension (impossible, because of the aluminium inside frame);
c) Add some rubber strip between the floor mount, and the unit, in case some of the squeaking came from there (I did, but made no difference).
Any ideas?? or any experiencing? Pouring it full with concrete :-) ?
Looking forward to your thoughts,
Dutch

I would avoid the concrete . . .
But typically, you want to find the source of the squeak. Test it by wedging some folded card stock into the spot to put pressure on it and see if it resolved the problem, and then when it's isolated put a strip of plastic to fabric in there.
If the squeak is just the console rubbing against the seat, try wiping down the mating surfaces with some leather wipes to make them more slippery.
