So I was cleaning out the R500 and pulled out the spare wheel and kit and looked down and see these three wires that don't go anywhere ...
I'm curious what they are if anyone knows? Also, is that the rear SAM on the bottom right corner?
This is all hiding at the bottom of the spare wheel well...

ps. i'm guessing that they're for systems that isn't included in my particular R... ie electric trunk?
Definitely prewiring for something. As AsianR350 said, could be for the rear camera. That looks like the SAM, but it's normally tucked up to the right more on the shelf to the right of the spare tire well.

thanks for your inputs yes, i have parktronic ... but i don't think any of the R500's were capable of reverse camera on the NTG2 Comand that they came with (looked all over and it'd have to be at least NTG2.5 before they had AV In for camera... and that came out in the 2008+ R's)
I dont think that it's anything to be worried about but I'm always curious when i see these things out in the open like that !
And as for the placement of the SAM, i totally agree it should be higher lol ...no doubt that your 2008's had a better placement because lets face it, that spot is just ASKING to collect water and we all know that SAM + Water = Unhappy Merc...

2007 R320 CDI has MB factory rear camera installed and i think 07 R500 uses the same COMAND.
