Any 272? what about SLK350 M272.969 (305hp 360nm 11.7:1), it has starter on left (driver) side instead of right. Thx for info.

Not sure about that, the starter might be an issue. The engine block might have positions for starter on either side, so I would check for that. If it does, then it should fit without issues.

I swapped a CL55 AMG engine (5.4 M113) into my R500 and it is running properly, no changes to coding needed. Theoretically you could also swap in a 5.4 M273 but you will probably need professional coding assistance.

there should be a cover on the passenger side that would represent the same appearance of where you would put the starter at. All you do is take off the Black cover and screw it onto the driver's side and put the starter on the passenger side. The passenger side is called the right side. Everything you do from sitting in your car will be left to right. And then you won't have to mess with the the steering column. Remember to put the brackets back on the right side passenger when you connect the transmission and engine block together the last two screws you'll be using will be for the starter to the transmission.

2011 E350 4MATIC Wagon
So I have an idea and let me know if I’m just crazy… But what are the chances that it’s actually doable, not easy, but doable to put an M273 engine from an E550 4Matic sedan into my 2011 E350 4Matic wagon? I’m cognizant of the fact that I’ll need different motor mounts, suspension upgrades,ECU, exhaust, cooling system among other things, but is it relatively feasible with a donor E550 sedan.

I know some of you might say to just get the E63 Wagon from that year, but I don’t want a full AMG.

I’ve driven brand new AMGs on the track, and while they are a ton of fun, it’s too much car for daily driving. Plus, I know I’d end up killing myself with that much power on the tollways near where I live lol

Let me know your thoughts

Not as crazy as you think. There's a lot more commonality than there are differences. Motor mounts are most likely the same. ECU is the same, just programmed differently. Exhaust- most likely just the headers are needed. Cooling- just the hoses, radiator is probably the same. Accessories are all the same. You'll need to swap over the fuel rail and engine harness. Differential gear ratio is different but you can leave the original V6 version in for better acceleration at the cost of highway MPG. Suspension parts are easily swapped if needed, and you really only need stiffer front springs for the heavier engine.
