I live in Toronto Canada and looking to purchase a used 2008 R320 CDI with about 240k on it. The vehicle is in really good condition. From an initial look, I think i might just need tires.

I'm reading that this year has some transmission issues. Should I be worried? Should i buy it or go look for a newer model and pay a little more for peace of mind?

really depends on the price. I had the same model.. 210K on it. .sold it for $9K in fall 2015 . Get it checked.. steering rack leaks are $2K+ to fix. Airbag suspension, shocks.. etc. Ask if they have had oil cooler leak repaired. Make sure Transmission fluid has been changed. Does the rear hatch work properly?
check for rust at all the lower parts. bottom of doors, rear hatch etc.

I got a 2011 with 40K on it to replace it. love the car!

Thanks efzauner! This one is $11,500 and has Navi, backup camera & panoramic roof too.

I will check to make sure the following:

• proper transmission fluid changes
• has no steering rack leaks (i'm assuming this is a common problem?)
• Oil cooler leak (how can I check for this?)
• Airbag Suspension, Shocks (are there problems with this?)
• Rust - No rust so far!
• Rear hatch - opens and closes fine
