Engine swap possible on R500?

Could you swap an engine from the m113 500 to say a 550? Im at a point where i drop 2500 on the engine to repair it or swap it out.

Would love to get near 400hp in the R500 but thats a stretch with the M113

Not specially swaping, maybe just chiping.....got a 2003 jetta, 1.8t, got it from 180hp to 235 just adding a chip, decat and straits pipe and nicer air intake....so, no real ( no expensive ) engine mods..... Imagine that but with a nice 5 litres v8......

turbo going in after Changing injectors, camshafts, fuel pump. Similar to clk500 turbo but won’t be 400hp, more like 500

That would be much more difficult as it requires swapping out the engine harness at minimum, if not the ECU as well.

Swapped in a 2002 CL55 AMG engine on my car, no reprogramming needed. I should get it on a dyno and give it a tune at some point, but it's been working well for the past 2 years so it's been low on my priority list. Any 5.4 NA M113 AMG engine should work- when I was looking, I primarily focused on the early 2000s S55 and CL55 versions. They were generally a lot cheaper than other versions and had the high 11.0:1 compression ratio. C55 and SLK55 were another 11.0:1 option but generally twice as expensive. The ML55, E55, and others generally had the lower 10.5:1 compression engine, which meant slightly lower power output but more friendly to lower octane gas.
