Hi,

I was a sucker in thinking that a month could go by without any issues on our R350. I was proved wrong over the weekend when my radio sound went dead again. Having fixed this issue just a month before (blown fuse), I went back into the trunk to check the fuse that I had replaced before and saw that it was still fine. This time it was fuse 23 that blew (COMAND, DVD, Radio, Stereo). When I went to replace it, the new fuse blew right away. Now I am trying to figure out how to tackle this one.

Here are the symptoms:
1) No sound
2) Command system seems to work ok (radio switches stations just fine, though no sound)
3) DVD player seems to work fine (plays DVD's and shows the counter that increments every second)
4) Satellite radio says not found so I think this is where I need to look

I was never able to find the satellite radio location on the R class. Does anyone know with 100% certainty where it is? Pleeease!

Lastly, is there anything else that I should be checking?

Thanks!

Problem fixed!
For anyone who has this same problem, I managed to find the source of the short circuit. Upon removing the rear spare tire, I saw a wire with nothing plugged into it (I guess my car doesn't have that option for whatever was supposed to be connected to it). There was some water in the spare tire well and the wire was sitting inside the water. The water had damaged the connector for the wire and the shell of the three wires that went into the connector. As a result, they were touching each other. I cut the wires from the connector and covered it with electrical tape (don't care what they were for since I'm not planning on upgrading anything on the car). I put the fuse back in and voila! It didn't blow and the radio started working again! To make sure this doesn't happen again, I relocated the wire such that it sits higher up closer to the tail light where it is dry. Hope this helps someone in the future.

Hey i had that wire in my 2008 R320 and never knew what it was for. It also corroded so I did the same thing. Never blew a fuse though. I scoured the wiring diagrams and could not find what it was for.

You need pictures of the spare tire well? Did you take the tire out and look? There's only one wire in there..
