My 2011 R350 doesn't have it either. The salesman explained it away that the Europeans are more environmentally conscious than we are and have laws against idling for warm up. Many states now have laws against excessive idling and warm up time.
A MB that I rented at Heathrow would shut off when you slowed to a stop. It started immediately when I let off the brake and wanted to move. I suppose it saves fuel but I bet that law was co-sponsored by a starter manufacturer. Apparently these laws save billions of gallons of fuel.
