SRS error after battery change

Hello. I have a 2006 r350 and the old battery shorted out so I had it towed to a repair shop that was open on a Saturday. (pep boys). they replaced the battery and the car starts and runs great. but I am now getting the SRS error. ive heard that it could be a sensor under the passenger seat. is this true? what can I check to see if I can fix it before going to the dealer.

You need to reset it with a scan tool. You can buy one on ebay or amazon (MB CARSOFT II is the one that clears it) and its not too expensive. Otherwise, have the shop do it.

Yes exactly how r350NYC says...mines did the same thing to me after a battery change due to having to disconnect the under seat wire harness to get to the battery...you can use the MBii scanner and clear it yourself...or you can take it to a Shop and have them do it..but most likely you get charged what the scanner tool costs...lol u choose

and the moral of the story is that you do not have to disconnect anything to change the battery... For next time..

And go back to pep boys had have them fix it because they broke it. Or send them the bill...

Yea its not usually necesarry but in my case and maybe his too was my harness was not put in right the last time they changed the battery thru the little hole insert so pushing the passenger seat all the way foward was not possible without snaping or breaking my seat harness wires...so yea i myself disconnected the wires and had everything prepped..
