Model Designation Clarification Please
So then why does the data code sheet for my 2012 R show it is a V251 platform?
For sure mine is the elongated body. On the option list parameter code shows it as FV, with the description stating Elongated Body. And the vehicle is definitely "elongated". Just try to park it in a tight parking lot...
Why is it important? I've found a seller with some genuine accessories I want to pick up. But the MB accessories catalog for these items shows different part numbers based on the body length (elongated or standard).
I know this might be a shot in the dark but, does anyone have a specific reference for what the MB platform code actually is ("W" or "V") for the elongated body?
Seems that you have discovered something never mentioned before. While W251 seems to be the generally used designation, the W251 is the short (normal?) version and the V251 is the long version.
Everybody just calls it w251!
I have never seen any reference to V251 when ordering parts in Canada or US. but now that you mentioned it, looks like european parts houses use both.
