Transmission fluid leak? (gas engine)

Got a few old drops on the driveway .. this is what I found
Rear of transmission pan has oil dips. Does not smell like engine oil nor is it dark so I figure it is transmission fluid.
Can I assume that it is brownish oil color and not red? It is definitely not red.

Or is it an engine oil leak from somewhere.
I had the transmission fluid/filter change 2 years ago. but from the pics the drain plug seems quite rusty as if it was never touched.

Any ideas? The only think I did while under was tighten the pan bolts a bit..

Any one change their own transmission fluid? How do you measure the temp to set the fluid level with out the STAR system?
