Bilstein HDs?
Can't find them listed for the R.
Since so many major components are shared with the ML, wonder is anyone knows if ML struts and shocks would work on the R.
Thanks in advance!

Good pictures, haven't seen the upper mount difference before.
Guess no HDs are the downside of a low-volume model. Seems like they would be good in back for towing...
Thanks!

towing? but you have the self leveling rear, plus the tongue weight is something like 300lbs. around 2 adults sitting in back.
You could try to see if the 2007 R63 rear shocks fit, probably do but I cant find them. May be dealer only.

Yes, Rear air bags only, not Air-Matic.
I'm using all Curt hardware except a flipped hitch in the receiver, by Reese - to get up to a normal ball height.
I've pulled a utility trailer with it but nowhere near limit (rear passengers don't apply to tongue weight...).
As others have said, this car tows very, very well. Rock stable.
Just considering what ifs, in case it spends much time loaded heavy (boat trailer).
There's an old term in the American South, "fishing car"...
I don't worship any brand of vehicle, but the R seems like it could be God's Own fishing car!
Thanks for your replies.
Fishing being a spectator sport, picture it on the boat ramp!
