2014 ML wheels on 2012 R350?

I’m looking for a winter setup and found a set of 18” wheels and tires off a 2014 ML.

Ive read that the ML and R share the same platform. Any issues with swapping these wheels? I have the 20” amg wheels currently. Thx.

According to tirerack, 18" are not available for your year R-class. They list only 19" & 20" wheels for winter use and 19", 20", 21" or 22" for summer wheels.

to start with that research you would find the owners manuals for both your and the 2014 ML and find the width and offset from both, then go to a tire distributor like tire rack and use their offset calculator. to see how much further in or out the prospective rims would be. 1/4 inch either way is not a problem.

I would expect the issue might be brake caliper clearance. 1/4 inch split between the two wheel halves is minimal (about 6mm each side of the centerline).

no. the R even had 17 inch rims so 18inchers would be fine too.

I had 17" on my 2009 R-class for the winter. The originals were 19". However, maybe, the 2012 MY has different calipers. Not that the tirerack is infallible, but, they do list 17" winter wheels for all the R320 or R350 going up to and inclusively to 2009. When you try to configure using any model year after 2009 for the R-class, it says 19" or 20". Nothing smaller.

I am driving winters on 18" on my 2012 R350 BT. They fit neatly. Originals are 19".
Tried 17" and they did not fit in front even though I was using them before on my 2007 R350 gas.
I guess, diesel has bigger front calipers as it is quite heavier.
