Aftermarket radio

I have a 2006 R350 and am looking to get an aftermarket radio. I am planning on installing Pioneer AVIC-W8500NEX. https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/P.../AVIC-W8500NEX . I need to get a dash kit to install this and the one I found is this one from Metra: http://metraonline.com/part/95-8728B . However, that kit is advertised as a 2009-2012, and I have a 2006. Does anyone know if this will fit fine on a 2006? I have a wooden strip above the radio unit currently, and I am not sure if this dash kit will replace both, the radio and the wooden strip, or just the radio. Trying to avoid getting a dash kit that ends up leaving gaps on top or sides.

I have seen some posts with Pioneer and a dash kit which looks like this Metra kit, but I don't know if that was on 2006 or not. Thanks for any input!

2006 R500
I would replace it with a custom Android unit. Looks mostly OEM, and much cheaper. Just gotta deal with the occasional Android quirk. They can be set up to run Android Auto and Apple Carplay.

Try out Dynavin. Fits like a glove for the r-class. Have one myself and works perfect.

Does the Dynavin unit support setting up/syncing with the analog clock on the dash (or like with most of the aftermarket units I would loose that) ?
