Short answer probably no. It is not simple. Sometimes the turbo was unique to each model (OM642) and there are part numbers for each. Other times it was ecm tuning was different. Location of certain components.
Question is, do have the time to make it work? It most likely will work but with a lot of time spent swapping unique parts back and forth (engine mount arms, accessories, sensors, harnesses).Sometimes this can add 20-30 hours to the job and if your paying a shop forget it.

So I looked at the ML pan vs the R pan it certainly would require swapping the whole lower aluminum housing and metal pan section. It is just an expensive gamble bidding on a wrecked ML if there are larger complications. #hatingmyrclass 🙄
