Question R350 2006 - Mystery Part

Hello,
I just noticed a plastic flap hanging down from my 2006 R350. It does not look serious but am trying to find out what it is and where to order a replacement. Have tried many different variations on Google to try describe the plastic flap but I have not been able to find out what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's a splash shield or aerodynamic shield. It does not need to be replaced. You need a new fastener (a new screw). You can see where the screw is missing in the photo.

Take this photo to your nearest Mercedes dealer and show him the photo. Ask him for the screw, it might be free. Or it will be 5 Euros. It will take 5 minutes to install the screw.

Dealer took yet another approach. They said it was cosmetic and served no purpose and that the *** on which it should attach was broken and the *** was an integral part of the fuel tank so unless I replaced the fuel tank the best solution was just to remove it and leave the opening. I find it hard to believe but they had trashed it by the time I dropped by to pick it up.

I’d check the fuel tank if the “knob” was part of it and was trashed.

A cable tie probably would have secured it or a pack of the plastic screws/plugs are very cheap from aliexpress compared to local shops

Agreed. In fact, I had purchased a pack of the plastic screws before learning that the dealer trashed the cover plate. I recently had another issue with this dealer who claimed they had topped up the AC fluid levels but had not so I have found another garage.
