Fastest Street Legal "Minivan"
During yesterday's top speed runs at the SandHills Open Road Challenge in Arnold Nebraska, a Weistec powered r63 sponsored by Optima Batteries made a 165.5 mph run at the coveted Fastest Street Legal Minivan title.
Unfortunately the event was cut short due to oil on the road. Contestants were able to complete two of the three scheduled ½ mile shootout rounds but could only finish the first round of the one mile shootout.
No word yet if 165.5 mph was fast enough to retain the record or if the attempt was made during the 1/2 mile or one mile runs.

It is claimed to be blown by a 700 hp Weistec Engineering setup. Among other things mods were said to include head studs, SLS valve lifter buckets, an intercooler, upgraded exhaust, Brembo brakes, a suspension lowering kit, and 21-inch Monoblock-style wheels .
Isn't the factory speed limiter on one set at 155 mph?
All things considered, I actually thought 165 mph was snail pace for a R63 this heavily modified.
