Coolant leak in plastic fitting below the reservoir.

I have a leak in a plastic fitting below the reservoir. It pours out as fast as it pours in. This is my first diesel and first R320. Can anyone tell me what this part is and why it would be leaking? There is an open port on this and I have circled with yellow. Why would this be open? Am I missing something?

Thanks for the answer but it was not a broken part

I had attempted to remove the post before you answered because I found the hose that was supposed to be connected there and connected it. The previous owner had apparently replaced the auxiliary water pump and the hose clamp was too big. New hose clamp and antifreeze and all is good.
Thanks for the answer but the picture was not very good to see the problem.

Welcome to the group and good luck with your new car! Keep posting, most here are helpful but our numbers are dwindling. There is lots of old threads with great info so dont be afraid to search.

a subscription to Alldatadiy helped me a lot with both my R320 and my current R350 gas
