Driver Side Door Lock Issue

When I went inside the home last night after locking my 2009 R350, my wife reminded me that I had forgotten to grab a grocery bag from the car. I rush back out, and sure enough, I don't have my keys with me. In the meanwhile, I simply pulled the driver's side door handle, and the door opened! I took the keys from home, locked the car, and if I pull the door handle on the driver's side a couple times, the door opens! The others do not, but the driver's side door is open.

When I get in the car and try to use the central lock, I notice pins on all of the doors move down and up, and the doors do lock. Is this the dreaded door actuator failing? I can't open any other doors, and all of them appear to lock and unlock properly from the inside. It's only the driver's door, which I can open by pulling the handle a few times despite the fact that the car is locked.

Have you utilised the emergency key in your key fob? If so, you may need to return the key barrell back to its "locked" position. The constant pulling of the door handle is how you unlock the car using the key when you're battery goes flat etc. Its possible someone has used it and not returned the barrell to the lock position

I’ve never used emergency key and I don’t know what you mean by key barrel?

The barrell where you insert the key in the door handle. Insert the key and turn in 90 degrees.

Ok so just tried this. But I didn’t feel any resistance or anything when I tried to turned blade key 90 degree in both direction. Also, when I unlocked the car using remote key and proceeded to use blade key to lock the car, it didn’t worked either. The door lock knob didn’t move like it would when you lock/unlock using a remote key.

To add it to this, if I just rely on remote keys then the knob moves and lock or unlock the car. The problem is, if I pull driver side door handle few times, it will unlock!

You won't feel any resistance - it doesn't unlock the locking mechanism in a conventional sense like in other or older cars. Its more like a switch. It just allows a locked door to be opened by pulling quickly on the handle a few times. So you won't see the locking mecahnism move when you turn the key. The barrell should be in the upright (vertical) position in normal circumstances and horizontal position when you're trying ro access it in emergency situations. Make sure thats the case and if it still won't lock with the fob, then there's a different problem
