Buyer's guide for R350/500
Hi all, long-time S212 owner here. I'm in the process of selling it mostly because my kids are getting bigger and the car just doesn't work for our family anymore.
I've loved the car, but I also have the issue that local MB indy's are...ok. I don't have Xentry, but generally sort of hate the whole MB ecosystem. Mileage also isn't the best, but we have a short daily commute, so that's really not a big issues. I have Saabs, and am more at peace there, but they don't have anything that seats 6-7. The R Class...does!
There's a decent 2010 R350 for sale (pano/7 seats/etc.) near me with 100k for about $5k and doesn't look like garbage. I'm pretty tempted...what should I look for? I know about the intake runners, etc., and have an iCarsoft, so I can scan it if I test it. Other things? This would really be a third car for us since my wife dailies a Sienna and I plan to keep driving the Saab till it dies...but it's a stick and wife refuses to drive stick. Anyhow, candid opinions of the good and bad would be appreciated.

2010 should get you out of the problem years for the M272 engine and 7g-tronic transmission, so they should be reliable. It has rear air springs standard.
Check the spare tire well and battery well for water intrusion.
Electrically, it is identical to the ML/GL 164s. Many hardware parts, like brakes and suspension, carry over from the 164 cars as well.
