Scanner recommendation
Good afternoon from Massachusetts!
I was hopeful for a scanning tool recommendation. I'd rather a good $200 tool versus a "probably won't but might" for $60. I'd much rather a good $60 however. Lol
SamCrac on yt had a good video about a few but I've heard that MB can be finicky.
Anyways, I have 2022 GLE 350, week my wife does, and I use the better car. It is a 2008 R350. Mine is bigger and can seat six comfortably too.
Thanks and I look forward to learning a lot from the old wrenches in here.

MBWorld Fanatic!
There are several forum threads on this topic of OBD scanners. Many of us are pleased with the Launch Elite 2.0 MB scanner (~$150 on Amazon). It's capable of reading/resetting codes, and achieving some coding and service functions.

I own an R350. I could not be more happy with my scanner, it outperformed a snap-on unit in many areas including speed and detail. It truly is a marvel for the price. Works with my phone and of the bluetooth units out there, this is the one I recommend.
Xtool A30M
The R350 had multiple issues when i first scanned the car and the A30M helped immensely getting things sorted out (new wheel sensors all round, Yaw sensor, intake manifold replacement etc)
here's an attachment pdf of one of the scans:

Wow! Great forum. Thanks a lot. I will investigate this.
The main reason was because the driver's puddle lamp went out. I pulled the bulb and applied 12v and it illuminated. Huh?!?!
Then last week the drivers side bulb went out between the grille and the headlamp. Ok easy, or so I thought. I replaced the bulb and it didn't light up. Ugh!
I came to this website and listened a lot more than I wanted to ever know about this. Fords and Harleys, bulbs are bulbs. I'm sure that all the new canbus items are no longer plug and play. I'm getting older but technology is rapidly outpacing me. Double ugh.
Appreciate all of the help.

I forgot to add that I am hopeful to see if the SAM can be programmed by a scanner, programmer that is available to me.
From what I understand, the dealerships do not typically offer programming for parts and installation for items not ordered or installed from themselves. It unfortunately makes sense... Why should they be liable for a repair they didn't perform.
