R-500 Power Steering Problem
I have a 2006 R500 and it's been having issues with the power steering, mainly it clicks and feels tight. I brought the car to 2 different mechanics and received and received to different diagnoses reports.
The first mechanic said it scanned for faults which showed a SPS solenoid fault. Upon inspection they found the solenoid is leaking oil and recommend replacement.
The second mechanic is saying the car needs a rack and pinion assembly.
Aside from the price difference it seems like 2 different problems. I'd hate to spend the money only to find out the problem isn't fixed. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I had steering issues as well mostly some leaking and noise. My mechanic wanted to replace the power steering box which is a big job. I opted to flush the steering fluid and add a pint of Lucas Power Steering fluid. After that, my leaks stopped ( I check my fluid levels once a week) and my steering feels normal. Just an idea that you may want to try before spending the money on parts and labor. Good luck!

You need to provide some more information. Miles and previous work? More detail on symptoms.
The knuckles at the end of the steering column seize and make steering hard. Is it tight for 360 degrees. Does it occur all the time or just some?
