What else are you going to get that will haul 6 adults, safely, and in comfort? And with 4WD/AWD?
A minivan? A Suburban or Yukon?
The R is quite arguably better than both.....
I used to spend $150K on a customized Yukon XL -- the R63 will be a steal in comparison....
There is a niche for this vehicle.

But isn't the GL a better option? A 63 is certainly on the way and I just don't see the advtge of the R against that of the GL.
Would be interested to hear your considered opinion, Clay J.

I think that the GL is a better vehicle for the purpose.
It is still my understanding that the R has more room for the third seat passengers; albeit the GL has a higher total passenger capacity.
I am getting both an R and a GL - then I am going to decide between the two of them for my multi-passenger, all weather road conditions vehicle.
I have not yet driven nor seen in person either of them.
And of course I will post-up on both vehicles once I get my hands on them for an 'extended test drive'.

Clay J...
Cool, it will be interesting to hear your views. I sincerely hope the GL turns out to be the better vehicle as I really cannot associate with the styling of the R.

LOL -
I hear ya' -- I'm not a minivan fan, either. (But the minivan format does have its advantages when it comes to multi-passenger...).
I'm just going to have to see the advantages - and any disadvantages - of each, and the differences between the two of them, for myself -- but I will post-up my detailed analysis of each.

$50K for the truck, $100K to modify it.
And they are very nice vehicles when completed.
It's a heckuva lot more than that to do a G-XXL....
I am looking for an 'off-the-shelf' new MBZ now for my multi-passenger, all-weather-road-conditions vehicle - and I'm hoping that the R63 or GL63 is it.

This R63 is going to be a flop and will only be spared embarrassment due to very low production numbers. Very few are going to buy this thing no matter what the premise is or how good it looks on paper.

One of the G65 XXL's is going to Dubai. I will post pics of one of them here on the forums when they are built and I take delivery.
I don't plan on going to the UAE during July and August because of the weather.
I am planning on running into JimmyG the next time I am there -- he travels more than I do though.... Perhaps we can meet up there LawrenceAW.

Ever see JimmyG in Dubai?
It's been a few months now...
