As a lesson learned from my recent R63 purchasing experience, be prepared to have issues with your insurance company and possibly financing institution. Mine were more focused on the insurance side.
As we were reviewing the policy, the insurer looked at all R-Classes from that year. Given that the R63 was only produced in 2007, with an estimated total year production run of ~13,000, they determined the value based on ALL R-Classes. In reality we were discussing insurance for between 0.004% and 0.008% of the production run of the R-Class for the year; or roughly between 48 and 108 vehicles, depending on what production numbers you are looking at.
The solution to this was my spending of $550 for an Actual Cash Value appraisal of the vehicle. This required an additional week in the purchasing process as they conducted their evaluation. In the end, the valuation for my R63 AMG with 98,072 miles was established at $38,050. The insurance folks were pleased to have this and wrote the policy accordingly. Additionally, the financing folks were pleased as it provided their underwriters justification for, as they saw it, “an unusually high loan amount for an R-Class.”

R63 AMG
The remainder of the R63 is that of an R-Class. Parts can be found easily and for relatively equal cost to an R350, minus specific R63 items (Brake rotors, calipers, wheels, cooling system items, etc).
