Installing the supercharger itself was easy. At the same time, also did the spark plugs again (1 step colder per Weistec), coils and injectors. Also will change out the fuel pump to be safe (on order).
Relocating and plumbing all the hoses etc was the challenging part. My friend (20 year Mercedes World Certified Master Tech) took extra time and care to install it so that everything is 100% reversible.
Only issue is with the upload of the SC Tune, but Weistec is working on it....
Whipple! Intercooler mounted behind rebar instead of in front so front bumper need not be hacked up.
Following, as I want to do this on my ML63. Very little info is out there for the m156 SUV's. Couldn't you send your ECU to Weistec instead of remote tuning?
If we can't remote tune it (ECU doesn't seem to accept the tune), will send ECU and Handheld tuner tommorrow to Weistec. It's strange as I was able to load the Weistec (non-superchager) tune last year.
Update:
Weistec recovered the ECU and flashed the Stage 1 SC file directly. Installed and R63 runs! Hooray. Kudos to Weistec for helping out no questions asked. Great company!
Impressions:
Idles and runs very smooth. Just like stock. Extra power is immediate. It’s not mind blowing faster, but the extra grunt is there all the time everywhere. I can see how the Stage 1 is perfectly safe for the engine and transmission. It’s enough for me. Prefer safety and reliability over having too much power. R63 still feels naturally aspirated
