The city of Cochin is flocked by Western Ghats on the east and the Arabian Sea on the west. It is one of the best ranked cities by the World Travel and Tourism council for its natural beauty. The city, which is known for its museums and architectural heritage, is slowly evolving into a city of development. Already known as the commercial capital of Kerala, the city is emerging in to a lifestyle capital with countless shopping malls, theatres, showrooms and hotels coming up at its every nook and corner. This shift in the nature of the city has attracted the attention of its NRI population, who wish to settle down here. NRIs are heavily investing in buying land and property in the city. This has resulted in a rise in demand for property in the city. The land prices per cent have plummeted in recent years. There is a rise in demand for flats, villas, houses and apartments in Kerala , especially in Kochi. Many new builders have entered the market and set up base here. It has now become indispensable for any big builder in India not to have an office in Kerala. All thanks to this sudden upsurge in foreign remittances coming into the state. Kochi’s IT hub is thriving with more and more software companies setting up its branches here. There are other developmental projects taking place in the city. Kochi Metro project and the LPG terminal add to its charm. The city is well connected by rail, road and air. The presence of the international airport and three prime railway junctions make commuting to and from the city easy.
