Mercedes "audio 10" cd player
I have lately seen these "audio 10" in dash OEM single cd players- (rare so they say) for sale on ebay. Do you guys think they would work on our w140 coupes with the factory harness and amplifier harness ? I was wondering if they play CDR OR CDRW or even MP3's ?
GODZZ.
I have great trouble getting this head unit to play CDRs. I have tried Fujifilm and Verbatim ones with no luck. Having said that, once it has found the track it will then normally play subsequent tracks fine but it can take up to 2 minutes (on the Fujifilm CDR) to find the selected track. Will be trying TDK discs sometime this week.
I wouldn't say that the Audio 10 is rare (although mine did come in a car equipped with the BOSE speaker upgrade), as the only "special"* thing it does is automatically turn itself up and down depending on your speed.
Personally I will be changing mine out for a nice aftermarket version in the new year.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Ady
* Most head units have RDS, Traffic Alert etc these days so I don't class that as "special".

i have found a side, where you can get informations about Mercedes Alpine Becker Audio 10 CD radios and cd changer. There is a information, that this Radios from him plays burned CD-R.
Look at this side non-sponsor advertising
i hope this side can help you
It doesn't play burnt CDs (one out of 20 CDs played with starting trouble).
also cannot play MP3s.
Otherwise sound quality is very good.
Has D2B fibre optics input for CD changer
I too hav bought a used Audio 10 from eBay 2 years now; sounds very nice with my old speakers; but fails to play recorded CDs (CDRs); after a lot of reading, I bought Dension Gateway 500 adapter (D2B fiber optics); got it connected by a audo-pro shop two weeks before. But now CDC is not detected by the head unit.
Since you have DG500, can you please help me guide me how to get the Audio10 detect the Aux D2B (the adapter).
Any help is much appreciated; total cost is around $800 now to me.
regards..
