Opening the bonnet / popping the hood
... as I believe Americans call it..
For the first time, I need to get into the engine in my 600. Every Merc I've had or dealt with in the past has been a W123 or W124. You pull a handle inside the car, and then another handle pops out of the grille, and the bonnet/hood opens slightly. Then you pull the handle sticking out of the grille, and everything opens. I'd assumed it would be the same with this car.
But this time, when I pulled the handle inside the car, nothing popped out from the grille. I felt around underneath and couldn't find a handle or anything. Should there be one (in which case it's broken off), or is there a different way to open W140 coupe bonnets/hoods? If there's suppposed to be a handle popping out of the grille and it's broken, how do I get in?
