Anyone know the stock HP and Torque figures on the V-12 coupe. Anyone have performance numbers? Anyone ever take one to the strip? <1/4>

In US Spec, the stock output was billed at 389 horsepower and 420 ft-lb's of torque. This was conservatively rated, as some dyno testing has shown the motor to be generating more along the lines of 420+ horsepower and 450+ ft-lb's of torque right out the box. The best quarter mile I've seen was 13.6 (on puny 225mm OEM rubber) and the traps range from 104-106+ from the data I have come across. From my own personal observations, this car is quite a bit raunchier and quicker than the factory numbers dictate.

Thanks for the info gentlemen. The reason I asked was, it felt pretty slow for a V-12, but i think its the way the car is geared, the thing pulls hard on the freeway but starts off sluggish. Maybe its because it just feels slow, you look down on the speedo and see 100 but you swear you were cruising at 45. They sure dont make them like this anymore, car feels like a tank and the windows feel like they are 3 inches thick!

Also consider that the S600 Coupe weighs in a mammoth 5,000 lbs (not that the SL600 is a lightweight at 4,500 lbs). You are correct about the gearing, as the final drive ratio is a mere 2.65:1, which is not exactly ideal for performance under 100 mph. Where you truly notice the presence of the V12 is in part-throttle acceleration, as the power band on the motor is a very stout, fluid one.
