wiring harness

VIN: WDBGA32E4RA167800 / 1994 Mercedes Benz S320

I recently purchased 1404404605 wiring harness although the harness that came off my vehicle says: 0005454881. Will the 1404404605 fit my vehicle? Everything seems to fit except the thermostat plugs.

Thoughts?

Where to start? The Italians or the Germans?
You know, you can just send out the harness from your car and have it rebuilt. I just went through this ordeal with one of our V12 W140's. Now the next car needs its wiring harnesses repaired (insulation has failed). Probably easier than adapting a non-matching parts number harness to your car.

Honestly at this point I wish I did that. The weird thing is the new harness I bought is a genuine Mercedes part with an exact match per VIN. But like I said everything seems to match up except for the thermostat plugs and since I've already used it Mercedes is giving me a hard time about returning it. Costed around $900 USD I'm just trying to figure out what the issue could be.

I've had terrible luck with the MB parts people lately. They keep giving me the wrong part numbers for my vins (my mother has three W140's). They couldn't even give me the right part number for the multi-contour seat lumbar switch for crying out loud. I think they are just employing a bunch of dumb, young people who have no experience with these order cars. They EPC system is not foolproof either. You have to have a working knowledge of the chassis, which they clearly do not.

So you have three options. Try to fit the harness to the car, repair your old harness, or try to get the correct part from MB. How many wires are on the thermostat plug? Does each harness have the same number of wires?
