When do you really ever see an old Coupe just waiting to sell after a new year model has been introduced? Very seldom if ever and you don’t usually see a lot on their lots at once. They would rather shift stick from already built inventory. They are doing what Lexus has done for years, Keep supply low and demand high. Unlike GM or Ford, who were tying up huge amounts of money in built inventory. Hell, they are still selling 2018 models on sale. We are 4 months into the 2019 sales year.
The only wildcard is the SL going to a full 2+2, if that proves untrue then all makes much more sense. I checked out the 850...it's no S coupe especially on the inside

I think the 850 is a bit much. It’s like putting on to much lipstick just to go buy more lipstick. Plus they don’t offer a 600 Coupe, which to be honest is what I’d really like to buy. Not to sporty but understated elegance with massive power. Plus I personally, ( just my opinion) find the cab in the S versions out of proportion. The E and C do a much better job on their cab’s.

S Class coupes/CL’s will always be in production, as long as Mercedes is in business.
I agree. Can’t ever see them stopping production of the S coupe. It is their flagship. Here is an industry article on the future of Benz vehicles:

https://www.just-auto.com/analysis/f..._id183613.aspx

Note it says: “Daimler will release the next S-Class Coupé in 2023. The S-Class Cabriolet successor will be added in 2024. Both cars will be built on MSA, the same architecture as the future S-Class.”

Just what 2014CL600 said.

Thank you. My source at MB went to Germany to make sure they were giving accurate information. Your information is dead on correct.

Agree. The 6 series didn't compare to the S Class, and neither does the 8 series. Lost opportunity by BMW to compete in this segment. Only real competitor of the S Coupe is the new Bentley CGT. Maybe the DB11 if you don't care about carrying people in the back seat.

I appreciate the 8 series and I'm glad it's back. It will likely do what BMW does well in general. Having not sat in one, it does not appear to compete with the S coupe. It seems to lack the elegance that the S offers.

The S coupe’s interior simply exudes luxury and exquisite fit/finish...I did not get that impression in the 8...and the buttons and switches felt inexpensive lacking the high quailty tactile goodness of my coupes

The LC500 is a really nice car and a viable alternative to the S Coupe at a much lower price. It's performance isn't on the level of the S63 but is probably similar to the S560. And its interior is very good, better than anything else I've seen in the price range. The atmospheric V8 sounds good too. The LC F will be very interesting.

Seperate question, how much off can I get onma leftover new 18 63 coupe +/-25%?

I'd like to know that too.

Not sure there are may leftover 2018s out there though, search on Cargurus (which usually shows unsold new inventory) doesn't turn up many at all. Lot of 2019 cars though.

Well, once it;s confirmed if there will even be a 2020+ it will certainly help to determine what kind of discounts we can expect late this year on left over 19's.

Next visit I'll see what my deler says about 18's

BTW here's some new talk on the SL which differs from what most have reported here:
